A Day He Will Always Remember
As dwindling health is in the fore coming of my future, I decided to take my 14/15 year old son on a summer’s journey. To do things he and I have never done together, things that we may never see or do again. As we stayed in West Yellowstone we found a place to go horseback riding. This was not a planned activity as I haven’t been on the back of a horse in many years and my son had never been on one.
We decided to do it, so we made reservations at the Diamond P Ranch.
It was more than I had ever dreamed of, not only for me to be on the back of a horse and riding again, but for my son’s first experience to be on this wonderful trail ride””
I got to experience the fresh smell of horses, hay, and mountain air, to be able to feel alive again, like I was at home. Rodger got to experience the trees, hills, the mountain views, and the feel of the horse beneath him as I did as a younger person. We were home.
The Diamond P Ranch did a wonderful job enabling my son and I to have this special journey by having experienced staff for both beginning and experienced riders. For having a trail ride that showed many views of wild life, meadows, and God’s grace in Montana.
The experienced photographer there had taken MANY wonderful photos that my son will have forever. He will be able to show others that he and his mom went on a magical journey in a place called “Diamond P Ranch”, In West Yellowstone, Montana.
After 2 1/2 months of traveling, this was his favorite experience 😉 -–Mine too
Smart and pretty cowgirl’s, cowboys, and owners are genuinely nice
I have been horseback riding many times but Diamond P gives you the total experience! The owners (Portmanns) are charming, hard working folks. The guides were intelligent, informative and a real charmers. The horses were obedient and customized for the riders (never saw kids more incredibly excited about their rides). Great experience. We only wish Diamond P had cabins. We would have stayed their all week for sure. See ya next season Ms. Bambi, Rex, Bree, Kim, Cade, Scout, Pal and Lefty (my horse) Continental Divide was awe inspiring!

This was an amazing experience. The scenery was out of this world. The wild flowers that were in full bloom made me think the sun had shared bits of it’s brilliance everywhere. The guides were fun and funny to ride with. They tried to make everyone feel included and would point out little wilderness facts with us.

Horseback riding trip
We went on the morning 3 hour ride and it was amazing. The scenery was beautiful, the guide was so friendly, nice, and helpful and the horses were great. It was a great family ride. We even got to watch and talk with the farriers who were shoeing the horses. The owners are there each day and they were very happy to take all the time we wanted to talk about the ranch and the history of the place. It was a perfect ride in the woods and fields.

A Fun Family Ride
The folks at Diamond P do everything they possibly can to make your ride an enjoyable experience. I was there with my daughter, son-in-law, 7 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter. The ride would have been perfect just to see the joy in my grandchildrens’ eyes, but even though it had been a very long time since I had ridden, I really enjoyed myself. The ride into the Gallatin National Forest was very relaxing, even when a deer got spooked and startled my horse. He recovered quickly. All of the folks at Diamond P work very hard to ensure a safe and fun time. I would go back

Fantastic family ride
Just back from an amazing evening ride at the Diamond P. Family of four, including two kids thoroughly enjoyed our ride and can’t say enough to compliment the ride leads and owners. A must do in West Yellowstone.

I took the evening ride with my 16 yr. son and 70 yr. mother-in-law last week. We all had a relaxing, enjoyable ride into the Gallatin Forest. The other family in our group had several prior rides but this was our first ride. The team was very accommodating to a young 6 year old, and small or large riders(300 lbs). Bri is a fabulous guide/wrangler. She paid attention to all in the group, took photos for us, and added to the greatly enhanced the riding experience with her stories. This is a wonderful ride for inexperienced riders. My mother-in-law had not ridden in 40 + years and can’t wait to get ““back in the saddle”” I can highly recommend the team at The Diamond P Ranch with no reservations.

My daughter had to write about her favorite place for her 2nd grade class. She chose the Diamond P, from our trip this past August! Thanks for the wonderful time!
