  • Check-in time is 12 – 6pm with check-out by 10am.

Please turn on the SOUTH side of Highway 20 for the Horse Motel.

Please DO NOT turn your trailer up the main road to the ranch, on the North Side of Highway 20! The main address of the ranch is the only address we have for the ranch. Our Horse Motel is on the South side of Highway 20. If you go up the main road to the ranch there is a strong possibility you may need to wait until all of our horseback riders mount or dismount from their horse riding tour. Also, turning around at the main ranch can be a challenge, if we have a lot of parked guests at the ranch.

If you arrive late (after dark), please call us at 406-646-0606 press # 2, for instructions on parking and payment. Additional charges may apply for arrivals after 10-pm.

  • Check In by phone when you arrive at the Horse Motel. Call 406-646-0606 and press # 2. The remaining balance of your Horse Motel reservation is due at the time of Check In.

  • Hay and horse shavings are available for purchase at the ranch. Please call us at 406-646-0606 and press # 2. You will need to ask for the current hay and shaving prices as it changes with the current market

  • We do not have septic or shower services at the Horse Motel. Here are places around West Yellowstone where you can empty your tanks. Click for map

  • There are guided horseback tours that leave from our ranch and cross the highway to our south side pastures. The Gallatin National Forest Service Access is located through our South Pasture gate. Please be respectful to our paying guests, as many are inexperienced riders. Please use proper horse and trail etiquette while riding in the forest. You may encounter ATVs, hikers, and bikers on some trails so please use caution.

  • Gallatin National Forest Service office sells maps of all the current Forest Service Trails, near the Diamond P Ranch. Including the new Continental Divide Trail, overlooking Yellowstone National Park, Idaho and Montana. You can go to the Chamber of Commerce Visitor office located at 30 Yellowstone Ave, West Yellowstone MT 59758 for more information. Maps are also available as an app for your smartphones. Check out Avenza maps in the link below. Feel free to talk with the owner of the ranch, Rex Portmann, he can walk you through the map of trails he loves to ride. Click for trail maps

  • You are in Grizzly country! Be bear aware! Keep your camp clean of garbage, horse feed and other items that may attract bears. There is a bear proof dumpster located at the Horse Motel. Please lock all human food AND horse feed inside your trailers!

  • All horse pens are required to be completely cleaned before departure, otherwise a $100 cleaning fee will be charged. Please be courteous to the next visitor and help us keep prices affordable.

  • Currently, we are not offering private guides for horse motel guests. However, trails are well marked and easy to follow with use of trail maps available for download here.

  • There are two grocery stores in town that have a great selection of items.
